716i Tread - Good Rifle With A Few Quirks
Overall I am quite happy with the rifle though there are a few things (good and meh) that ghouls be noted. The charging handle is specific to SIG so if you want an ambi charging handle you have to get a SIG specific one. Not really a big deal since the ambi SIG charging handle is nice, but it’s slightly frustrating you can’t just grab a radian or geissele off the shelf somewhere. The barrel is stamped for 7.62x51 however, according to SIG it is rated for 308 so that’s nice. Not entirely sure what is up with the trigger because the description says it’s a two stage match trigger but the one in mine is a single stage and 7-8 pounds for the pull weight. Probably going to change it out for a geissele sometime in the future since I have mine set up as a DMR. I’ve shot almost 500 rounds and have gotten hits on C-zone steel out to 1,100 yards with M80 ball (no malfunctions yet). The rifle grouped 2-3 inches at 100 yards with the M80 which seems average. Haven’t tried any match amp yet but given how it performed with M80 I would expect it to tighten up to an inch or so. Based on my experience I would recommend the rifle to anyone looking for a lightweight 308 but point out a few of the potential downsides.
